Professor Surinder Singh and 30 members of RajAcademyLondonin partnership with ThamesValleyUniversityLondonstarted a heavy media campaign in Indiafor forthcoming celebrations in October 2008 for the Gurgaddi Divas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Sardar Nirpal Singh Shergill (chief media advisor of RajAcademy’s Indiatour) has brought forward a new dimension to the promotion of historic Sikh events and celebrations. He has placed huge hoardings throughout Punjabto begin the great celebrations this year with Sikh sponsors.
The traditional orthodox discipline of singing Gurbani Kirtan (Gurmat Sangeet), using the instruments given to us directly by our Guru’s and singing only in the prescribed format of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (nirdharat raag). Raj Academy will be joining the celebrations this year at Nanded for the 300th Gurgaddi Divas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and on this joyous occasion will be accompanied with 30 Western Sikhs to have a dedicated day for authentic Gurmat Sangeet in remembrance of the sacrifices made for humanity.
The 30 western students of Raj Academy from the USA, UK & Europe will be using the Sikh Rabab (model of Guru Nanak Dev Ji), Saranda (designed, created and played by Guru Arjan Dev Ji), Jori also known as the Punjabi Pakhawaj (developed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji from Mardang), Sarangi (promoted by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji for singing the vaar’s of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji), Taus (designed, created and played by Guru Gobind Singh Ji) and the Dilruba (adapted from the Taus by Guru Gobind Singh Ji); and singing only title/ nirdarath Raag as prescribed in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
In commemoration of this historic event we would like to take this opportunity to assist Indiain raising its living standards through the means of education, we would aim to do this by hosting camps all over Punjaband Delhito educate our future generations about their rich heritage. A heritage which they must revive and be proud of, after all this is what our Gurus’ sacrificed themselves and their families for, therefore to show our love and respect we must all work together to raise Sikhi to the platform it deserves by reclaiming our heritage and raising the prestige and life standard of Sikhs and all humanity through the power of Shabad Guru.
Through these camps we will train people to a high standard on Sikh instruments and singing only title Raag in a matter of days so please help us to show everybody especially Sikhs how easy and fruitful it is to live life Gurus way not our way. To follow Gurus order is not a difficult thing it has been made difficult and we as Gurus Sikhs must work together to show our fellow brothers and sisters
